The Red Headed Woodpecker is listed as endangered in CT and is considered one of the rarest breeding birds in the state. I found this one in Middlesex County CT as it brings in nesting material.This is not the Downy, Hairy, or Red bellied woodpeckers you see at feeders, Its fully Red from the neck up.

This cute little songbird, a Loggerhead Shrike has a nickname of the "Butcherbird" thanks to its practice of a strike at the nape of the prey's neck severing the spinal cord and then impaling its prey on sharp thorns, twigs and barbed wire.
