Our flower box is slowly giving in to Autumn, but wait! Our hummingbirds still find plenty of reason to visit. Oxford CT 9/9/24

A day for raptors! 4 different Hawks. Red Tail hawk against blue sky, young Red Tail hawk on tree branch squawking about something, Red tail hawk looking for lunch, fearless little Kestrel did not like this hawk on HIS branch and annoyed him until he left. The best for last, an adult and immature Bald Eagle in a dead but sturdy tree. Southbury CT 9/3/24

Performing at the Goshen fair were The CT Renegades Cowboy Mounted Shooters. They shoot two 45 caliber single action pistols which must be cocked each time before firing by drawing the hammer back. No live bullets used . Guns are filled with black powder that can break a balloon up to 15 feet. 10 balloons are set up on posts, each pistol holds 5 rounds so when they make the turn they have to change guns. Its a timed event and you get 5 seconds added for each balloon you do not break. Follow these 3 images. #1 she breaks the last balloon in the first row, the horse is full gallop. #2 she is going so fast she overshoots the balloon. #3 she turns around and hits the balloon! The clock behind her is at 7. 4 seconds!!
