American Kestrel, the smallest & most colorful falcon in North America. Sometimes they land on just the right spot . Looks like an Oriental painting to me. Southbury CT 3/29/24

This cute little songbird, a Loggerhead Shrike has a nickname of the "Butcherbird" thanks to its practice of a strike at the nape of the prey's neck severing the spinal cord and then impaling its prey on sharp thorns, twigs and barbed wire. It can take down prey twice its weight. Looks can be deceiving. Taken from our deck, Estero FL 3/16/24
